Hirsutism

aDermatoloji AD, İnönü Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, MALATYA Hirsutism is the presence of excessive facial and body hair which appears in a pattern more tipically seen in adult male and affects 5% to 15% of women depending on ethnic factors. Hirsutism result from increased androgen production and/or excessive androjen action at the target level. The most common cause of hirsutism is the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and idiopathic hirsutism. The diagnostic evaluation of the hirsute patient first involves confirming the presence of hirsutism clinicaly and then excluding associated or etiological abnormalities and disorders.
